Rehabilitation Therapy

Through our highly recognized rehabilitation program, Advena Living of Bonner Springs provides in-house physical, occupational and speech therapy. For short-term rehab to home, we can perform a home evaluation before the patient’s discharge to ensure all goals have been attained for the safest return. We also work with long-term community members.

Our individualized treatment programs are designed to help achieve optimal independence and prevent further decline in function. The rehabilitation team will collaborate with community members to help restore mobility and autonomy, working together in a safe and comforting environment. As a source of constant support, we will form a clear plan to accomplish each member’s unique health goals and help them achieve the best possible quality of life.

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapists work to move the patient toward greater independence and mobility, either unassisted or with assist devices. Community members focus on improvement of coordination, balance, strength and endurance. Through evaluation and treatment programs, our therapists can treat a variety of conditions, including:

Amputations
Arthritis
Balance/gait disorders
Low back and neck pain
Other orthopedic/athletic injuries
Treatment following joint replacement surgery

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists use goal-directed activity to help restore, maintain and improve daily living skills. The objective is to assess the community member’s ability for personal self-care and provide modified techniques and/or adaptive devices, as necessary, to assist in achieving the skills needed to complete activities of routine daily living.

Speech Therapy

Speech and language pathologists focus on improvements in swallowing, hearing, speech and language proficiency. The goal is to assess and provide treatment that helps the patient recover lost skills or develop new ones. Treatment is provided to community members of all ages who have a range of diagnoses such as:

Motor speech disorders
Swallowing disorders
Language disorders that affect ability to communicate

ACP Modalities

Accelerated Care Plus® evidence-based modalities, including electrical stimulation, have been used successfully for many years to decrease pain, inflammation and edema associated with a broad range of prevalent conditions. This proven medical technology also enables therapists to treat more complex conditions, decrease muscle disuse atrophy, enhance soft tissue healing through increased circulation, and improve neuromuscular control in patients with orthopedic and neurological diagnoses.

OmniCycle®

OmniCycle® is similar to an ordinary exercise cycle but can be powered by the arms or legs. It also has a special motorized system that senses the amount of help needed to exercise. This allows those with physical limitations to participate in therapeutic exercise activities sooner after illness or injury.
